Press kit and how to link to GalaxySim 3D

Writing about GalaxySim 3D, teaching with it or listing it? Everything you need is below. It is free to use and link to, with no sign-up needed to look around.

What it is (copy and paste)

GalaxySim 3D is a free, real-scale 3D model of the solar system and the Milky Way that runs in a web browser. It uses NASA JPL Horizons data for planet, moon and spacecraft positions, includes 4,000 asteroids and nearby stars, and lets people change a planet's mass to watch full N-body gravity play out.

Key facts

  • Free; guests can explore, a free account (Google or email link) keeps your place.
  • Runs in any modern browser with WebGL 2, on phones, tablets and computers.
  • Data: NASA JPL Horizons and the JPL Small-Body Database; planet textures from NASA, ESA and Solar System Scope (CC BY 4.0).
  • Built by Karan Gandhi as an independent, not-for-profit project. See About.
